Ah, Photoshop
Like any technology, it can be used for good or evil.
Iraqi Civilian Casualties
AP is reporting a survey which estimates that 100,000(!) Iraqi civilians have died as a result of the Iraq war, using the same survey methodology used to calculate Kosovo casualties.

The Case Against Bush - A (Partial) List
If anyone has questions as to the sourcing of particular claims I make here, let me know and I’ll post some citations. (Also feel free to provide your own citations...)
This list, by the way, is in no way complete. Not even close. I might add some items to it later. It comes down to, though, the sense that Bush is in a bubble - he’s not part of the ‘reality-based community’. I commented on this earlier, when I referred to the article “The War on Wonks”.

Alberta Election Blogs
I’m going to maintain a list of election-related blogs here, so send me your links! Feel free to be vain and suggest your own.
- Martha and Henry Ask Questions
- Ralph’s World
- Smith, because we all know he’s gonna write long, long posts detailing his electoral preferences
- POI. Isn’t that some kind of weird food? Coincidence?
P.S. I think I’m back to blogging. My hiatus is probably over.

Hiatus
Haven’t posted in weeks, but still averaging 20 hits a day. Go figure.
Anyway, my unannounced hiatus will be continuing until September - we’re absolutely swamped at work, and I don’t have time to blog right now.

Salon article and more
...on the terror alert/outing of Khan thing. Covers a lot of territory in a brief article; worth a read.
It’s even worse than it appears: Juan Cole links to a story that five AQ members may have gotten away because of the untimely Khan leak. Whoops!
And here’s today’s ‘reason to evict Bush’ - Bush on why the US shouldn’t tax the rich much:
[T]he really rich people figure out how to dodge taxes anyway.
(Noted in Political Wire, from an AP story.)
Jon Stewart’s gonna have fun with that one, I think!
Spinsanity on F 9/11.
My LAST post on F9/11. Also note that I’ve disabled commments on this post - this is for information only.
This spinsanity.org piece on F9/11 does an excellent job of precisely identifying the questionable bits of the movie - much more so, I think, than the piece Andy glowingly referred to in a recent blog post of his - without saying the whole film is therefore invalid. Basically, they show the movie as being heavily spun. But the critique is reasoned and sensible, unlike, for example, Hitchens’ rant.
F9/11 is, the spin in it aside, still a worthwhile film to see, particularly for the second half, which I think is not very spun at all. The spinsanity article doesn’t talk about Lila Lipscomb.
Spinsanity also has a new book out: All the President’s Spin: George W. Bush, the Media, and the Truth.

Context on the latest terror alerts.
In response to Andy’s comment to my previous post, I thought I’d outline my thoughts on the story in a bit more detail. I’m not going to address his questions directly, because I’m not trying to defend the Democrats. But first, a brief explication of events.
